About Me

My name is Dalton Cervo. I am the Customer Data Quality Lead at Sun Microsystems/Oracle. I am part of Customer Data Steward and a member of the Customer Data Governance team responsible for defining policies and procedures governing the oversight of master customer data.

I have worked at Sun, now Oracle, for over 9 years. I started as an IT Software Engineer developing web applications. Later, I moved into IT Project Management and eventually into the business area as part of the Market and Business Intelligence team.

In the last four years, I have led several customer data management efforts, including: data collection, cleansing, standardization, enrichment, and hierarchy classification; master data management conversion, consolidation, standardization, and cleansing; and data quality standards, policies, metrics and monitors.

I am a member of the Customer Advisory Board for DataFlux, and was a speaker at the IDEAS conference in 2008 and 2009 on the topics of customer data metrics and de-duplication.  I am an expert panelist and a featured blogger for Data Quality PRO. I have contributed with a chapter on MDM to Phil Simon’s book: The Next Wave of Technologies - Opportunities in Chaos.

Prior to Sun, I worked for almost 10 years as Software and Systems Engineer in the aerospace industry in multiple international projects.

I am PM certified, and have a BS in Computer Science and an MBA.
